A rosewood and amaranth veneered COMMODE d'entre deux with inlaid decoration of a rhombus on the front and fleur-de-lis in rhombuses on the sides, opening to three drawers, two of which without crosspiece, signed "Lexcellent Fabt Paris" on the lock, marble top with shoulder. Louis XVI style, second half of the 19th century H.: 89.5 cm W.: 90.5 cm D.: 51 cm E. Guillaume Edmond LEXCELLENT, cabinetmaker and furniture dealer from 1867 to 1928. This commode is a copy of the one made by Jean-François LELEU and delivered as a pair on May 1, 1773 for the bedroom of the Duchesse de Bourbon at the Palais Bourbon, now preserved at the Musée de Trianon in Versailles for the former and at the Wallace Collection in London for the latter.
