Gervais-Maximilien-Eugène Durand, Louis XV style table à Ecrire in mahogany and amaranth wood with gilt bronze mount. Writing surface in black embossed and gilded leather. With front pull and side drawers.
Stamped G. Durand
This table of the highest quality is a testament to the production of Maison Durand and its founder, Gervais-Maximilien-Eugène Durand (born 1839). He started a successful business in 1870 at 12 rue de La Cerisaie, later moving to the elegant rue Saint-Antoine, where most of the famous furniture makers of the time had their workshops. Gervais was the first of three generations of great and famous cabinetmakers. Durand only beautifully reproduces 18th century furniture, and this is certainly a fine example.
