Démétrios GALANIS (1879-1966). Belgium. Ink drawing on paper depicting a peasant woman carrying a pitchfork and protecting her child from flames. Signed D. Galanis lower left, titled below the flames. 14.5 x 31 cm. Framed under glass. Démétrios Galanis was a Greek artist who attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He exhibited with the Cubists at the Section d'or exhibition in 1912. He frequented André Derain, Jean Moréas, Henri Matisse and Aristide Maillol, with whom he became aesthetically close.
