SOUVRÉ (Marquise de Sablé, Madeleine de). AUTOGRAPH LETTER signed. [February 1669]. 4 pp. in-4. VERY RARE SUPPLIQUE from the woman of letters, who held salons and entertained the intellectual and worldly "Tout-Paris" in her home, near King Louis XIV. Finding herself in a difficult financial situation, she asked "His Majesty" to "grant her the office of Conseiller au Parlement de Paris" held by "Monsieur labbé de Maisons" [Guillaume de Longueil, abbot of Conches, who died in January 1669], in order to save her from "ruin".
