Supported by Mannerist cartouche feet, the pendulum stands on two orders of patinated plinths ending in a gilded lash. At the ridge is the figure of a horseman who, having laid down his arms and insignia, stabs himself in the chest, in probable reprise of the historical episode of Publius Decius Mure, who sacrificed himself for devotio and became a symbol of loyalty to a cause. Silver dial with Roman numerals, steel cathedral hands, movement with silk wire suspension, hour and half-hour chime on bell. H. 41 cm, W. 31 cm, D. 14 cm.
