Two pages which were originally part of an illuminated medieval book of hours, a type of prayer book common across the European world in this era. This example is likely from the second half of the 1300s or the first half of the 1400s. One of the pages has a beautifully illuminated letter 'M' in gold with decoration in red and blue emanating above and blow it along the left side of the text. Various letters throughout the pages are inked in red or blue as well, usually to mark the beginning of a new sentence.
The frame has glass on both sides so that one may see either side of the manuscript pages. The pages have been held within the matting via archival tape.
Dimensions: Each Leaf: 4 x 3 in., (10.16 x 7.62 cm.)
Very good with expected signs of age. Color still bright with only minor fading on certain letters. Inside edge of pages has some darkening and minor fraying where the page was separated from binding. Frame missing some pegs for holding in glass.
