First edition of the Toussaint de Bray collection, the first collection of poems of the 17th century.
Dedicated to Charlotte des Ursins, viscountess of Auchy, Malherbe's muse (the famous Caliste), it contains 167 pieces, 138 of which are unpublished or did not appear in earlier collections. It includes poems by Du Perron, Bertaut, Motin, La Picardière, Davity, Lingendes, Audiguier, not forgetting Malherbe, who is represented with 15 pieces, including 12 new ones.
This is the first poetic collection of its kind where each author's pieces are printed together and not scattered throughout the volume.
