In-8, brown morocco, boards framed with a gilt fillet and decorated with a geometrical pattern of straight and broken fawn morocco scrolls, figure repeated on the boards, ornate spine, caissons drawn with fawn morocco scrolls, charged with the same gilt figure, slipcase (G. Plumelle). First edition of Du Bellay's translation. In addition to this translation of Virgil, the work also contains 29 previously unpublished pieces by the poet, including XIII Sonnetz de l'honneste Amour. Other works by the author include Complainte du désespéré, Monomachie de David & de Goliath, Lyre chrestienne, Discours sur la louange de la vertu & sur les diverses erreurs des hommes, Deux marguerites, etc. Fine copy, bound by Georges Plumelle in Renaissance style and bearing the collector's cipher.
