electronic control unit that controlled Mauro Forghieri's electro-hydraulic sequential gearbox, which had
designed and built in 1978-79 and whose patent was later passed to the Centro Ricerche
Fiat, which began to develop it for its cars...
The experimental gearbox, thus made by C.R.F. engineers, was fitted to one of the last F1s with
12-cyl. Boxer of 3000 cc. displacement and was tested by Jody Scheckter, first driver of
then (who rejected it..) and by Gilles Villeneuve who did not mind.....
The name 'Gigi' in the lower RIGHT corner of the ECU cover refers to Gigi Pramazzoni,
head of Ge.S.'s gearbox department, to whom Gabellini is very grateful, also called '3 Cylinders' because he limped with one leg
when he walked
