1905 saw the start of a collaboration between glassmaker Amalric Walter and illustrator Henri Bergé, then chief decorator at Daum. As Emile Gallé did in his garden, Bergé sketched nature in Lorraine and created botanical plates. Following the example of Bernard Palissy with his "rustic figulines", he made molds from small animals to provide models to be transcribed into glass. At the 1909 Nancy International Exhibition, both artists were awarded the Diplôme d'Honneur. After the Art Nouveau era, their success continued, as they were awarded a gold medal at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in 1925.
