In the last quarter of the 19th century, Henri Edmond Cross rediscovered a technique for molding polychrome glass powder, which he called "pâte de verre". It was in the latter's workshop in Sèvres that Gabriel Argy-Rousseau became familiar with this technique, invented in Antiquity. He began producing between 1910 and 1920, becoming a true master of color.
