Antonio Santoja was a painter from Alicante, who was formed in his city and later, thanks to a scholarship in Madrid, under the guidelines of Emilio Sala. He participated in the Fine Arts Exhibition of Alicante in 1894, where he exhibited his work for the first time. He is known for his career as an illustrator, which earned him numerous awards and the publication of his works in major newspapers of the time, such as Blanco y Negro, Mundo Nuevo and ABC, among others.
