Louis AUCOC - known as Aucoc Aîné in Paris, circa 1845 - 1850
Exceptional travel set by Count Charles Joachim ROBINEAU de ROCHEQUAIRIE (1820-1880)
The burr-veneered case is adorned with brass fillets reworked in intaglio with a foliate décor and decorated in the center with the coat-of-arms of the Counts de Rochequairie supported by two lions. It opens with a lid lined with a retractable mirror, revealing an interior lined with purplish morocco and two central compartments covered with original royal-blue velvet.
It contains a travel set in crystal, silver (hallmark: Minerve 1st title) and brown tortoiseshell with fine chased or reperced decoration of flowers and foliage framed by raised foliage fillets. Each silver coin is centered on a cartouche inscribed with the owner's number under a count's crown.
Signed "Aucoc Aîné à Paris" on the brass and each piece bears the Aucoc goldsmith's hallmark.
