Georges Couthon (1755-1794) was a lawyer and famous Conventionnel, member of the "triumvirate" of the Comité de salut public with Robespierre and Saint-Jus. He led the siege of rebellious Lyon. He passed the law of 22 prairial (June 10, 1794), which organized the "Great Terror", and was arrested at the same time as Robespierre, and guillotined on 10 thermidor (July 28, 1794).
To our knowledge, there are no other models of this bust of Couthon by Marin.
