Pair of folding X-shaped stools in carved beech wood, partially gilded and rechamfered (restorations), with curved branches of rectangular cross-section, centered on a patera decorated with a rosette, with rectangular side rails, the sabots partly gadrooned and gilded. Antique upholstery (refinished circa 1830).
Good overall condition; previously folding, they are now secured by two screws; belts probably redone by Lebrun (known to be active circa 1812, fire mark on one), probably circa 1820, which would explain why they are unmarked.
First Empire period, circa 1806.
Attributed to Jean-Baptiste RODE (1735-?).
H. 50 x W. 67 x D. 47 cm.
