Le Géant left the Champ de Mars on October 4, 1863. It carried 13 passengers who had paid their fare. The second ascent took place on October 18, in the presence of Napoleon III, and ended in the Netherlands. Nadar made six spectacular ascents in this balloon, which he sold in June 1867.
