Jewel horse forehead rug in wool, hand-woven and hand-knotted in Tibet, tiger head design. It was placed on the horse's forehead at the head of the caravan.

Provenance: Sandro VOLTA Collection (1900-1986) and descendants.
Sandro VOLTA, writer, journalist and art collector, signed the preface to his friend Tristan Tzara's "Manifesto of Dadaism". On May 16 and 17, 1957 at Hôtel Drouot, part of his collection was sold by Maître Rheims. Sansdro VOLTA was a correspondent for the newspaper LA STAMPA in China and Tibet from 1925 to 1932.
