He belongs to the historic circle of the first artists exhibited in 1948 by Jean Dubuffet in the Foyer de l'Art Brut (basement of the René Drouin gallery), along with Aloyse Corbaz, Adolf Wölfli, Jeanne Tripier... "The movement of his creations is signed d'Espagne: tempestuous dance, brutal veracity, tragic grotesqueness, respect for ugliness, philosophical and serious eroticism, blood and death" Jean Dubuffet in 1948 about the artist.
