Charming Toi & Moi ring in 750 °/°° (18k) white gold set with two cultured pearls, one white, the other slightly eggplant, approx. 8 mm in diameter, cross-set with a line of eight baguette-cut diamonds in rail setting, and a line of six modern-cut diamonds in grain setting, all together approx. 0.40 carat, the setting twisted. Numbered on a plaque on the back 2791. TDD: 52.5. 15.49 g gross.
Attached are six jewelry drawings on tracing paper in pencil enhanced with gouache featuring Toi & Moi rings adorned with gray and white pearls, some with studio annotations.
Paul TOUZET, a designer and jeweler active from the 1940s to the 1970s, worked, according to family tradition, for VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, BOUCHERON and STERLE. He is also said to have worked with Georges BRAQUE and Jean COCTEAU on their jewelry. His creations are typical of French and Parisian jewelry production during the Trente Glorieuses.
