TCHALABERT (Djeraberd) KAZAK "Eagles" (Adler) carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century
Dimensions: 197 x 136cm.
Technical characteristics: wool velvet on wool foundation.
A brick field with small flowers, hosts two imposing stylized representations of the "Caucasian Eagle", radiating ivory stems, cruciform body with multicolored vegetation, starry legs and talons. The main ivory border, with a series of linked polychrome Medes stars, is flanked by jagged tricolored highlights and two-tone ribbons.
A fine graphic design for a rug typical of Caucasian Armenian symbolism.
