Important and original BIDJAR carpet (Persia), late 19th century
Dimensions : 464 x 312cm.
Technical features : Wool velvet on cotton backing.
A ruby field, highlighted with lacework, supports a cluster of large multicolored medallions, with figural plant frames and naive "illustrated" subjects. Two Prussian blue counter-borders, with garlands of stylized florets, frame the main salmon-colored border with a succession of interlacing polychrome plant branches forming small bouquets. A magnificent, vivid palette.
