Fidus (that's: Hugo Höppener). Prayer of light. Artist's stone drawing. Poster in color lithograph of 4 stones on stronger paper. Inscribed "Lichtgebet" and signed "Fidus 13" in the plate at the bottom. Woltersdorf near Erkner, St. Georgs-Bund, 1913, sheet dimensions: 66.5 x 45.5 cm. Early impression of the "Lichtgebet", first published in 1900. Fidus' motif, which was extremely popular in Germany, is said to have hung in every tenth middle-class household in the 1920s. The trilingual caption "Soaring - Fidus: Lichtgebet - Vers la Lumière" is probably aimed at a more international audience. - Some creasing, approx. 3.5 cm long backed tear in lower margin, minor marginal tears. - Provenance: From the estate of Hans Friedrich Geist, the artistic director of the Lübeck Overbeck Society.
