Feininger, Lyonel (after). Island. Color offset on chamois-colored textured paper. Signed, dated and titled in the print. 1933/1950s. Motif dimensions: 29 x 42.5 cm. Sheet dimensions: 35.5 x 47.5 cm. The reproduction of the work "Insel", a watercolor from 1933, was probably made by Esther Gentle, who reproduced many works by Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956) for the Willard Gallery in New York City in the early 1950s. The reproductions were printed by hand, mostly in editions of 100 to 200 and with the permission and assistance of the artist himself, who was represented by the Willard Gallery. - Sheet mounted on backing at corners and edges, trimmed unevenly, somewhat browned, stronger in the upper area, slightly stained in the lower right corner.
