Contemporary cloth binding with gilt-stamped spine title (cover partially discolored, front joint somewhat torn). Rare first edition. - Borst 2187 - Houben I, 577-81 - Stammhammer I, 241 - "The work stands out from the Young Hegelian literature as a nonconformist single phenomenon, as a 'practical nonsense' (M. Hess), and was, at first perceived as a sensation, forgotten after a short, fierce polemic, until it reappeared decades later in the theories of a society without domination." (Kindler XV, 1031). - Bookplate on endpapers, name on title, 6 small annotations in red, 6 marginal notes in pencil, 2 old marginal notes in ink, partly slightly browned, the last leaves with faint waterstain in lower margin.
