Large 18K gold "boite tabatière" (snuffbox), the base and lid formed by a slab of Sahara jasper.
The lid is decorated with rocaille-style flowers, curves and counter-curves on an amati background.
Beautiful 19th-century work, in the style of mid-18th-century English production.
Later Egyptian hallmark for the gold. French hallmark with owl for 18K gold.
