Height 16 cm - Width 24 cm Note : His father, founder of the Société Havraise des Beaux-Arts, encouraged him to paint on location from an early age. He went on to attend the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, then the Académie de la Grande chaumière with Lucien Simon as his teacher. His passion for landscapes, and in particular the Normandy bocage, is expressed in his works through an almost impressionist touch. He later moved to a studio in Montparnasse, Paris. In 1925, at the age of 24, the Carmine gallery on rue de Seine gave him his first one-man show, and in 1926 the French government bought him a view of the church of Saint-Eustache in Paris.
