Note: At a dinner with friends, he met Léon Detroy, a painter from the Crozant School, who introduced him to Creuse, late in the 1890s. He fell under its spell and stayed there several times, particularly in autumn, as the titles of his works reveal.
He exhibited two works at the 1900 Universal Exhibition, including Effet de matin sur la Creuse, which won him an honorable mention.
