PUT THE MARKS AND DETAIL OF THE CENTRAL MEDALLION PLEASE. Circular fountain in gilded silver and enamels, first third of the seventeenth century. With marks (not identified). Diameter: 40.8 cm, central enamel diameter: 6 cm. Circular dish with counter moulding with alternating oval and rectangular mirrors, all of which are enamelled. The seat is raised with a large moulded nipple also decorated with elliptical and rectangular mirrors. Around the seat and covering a large part of the field is a complex decoration based on crests of leather trimmed in high relief. The coherence of the decorative line is repeated on the rim and seat, balancing the decoration with geometric cabochons, either paired or solitary. The gilding of the piece and the colour of the enamels give the piece an elegant chromatic contrast, the enamels in champlevé with a predominance of ultramarine blue and green with the partitions in the colour of silver, creating geometric compositions of a vegetal character on a nuanced background. It follows the stylistic criteria of court silverware from the time of Philip III and due to its importance we can relate it to other examples conserved in private collections such as the one from the Marquis of Torrecilla in the Alorda collection, the one in Burgos Cathedral, the fountain in the MAN or the one in the Magistral de Alcalá de Henares whose central enamelled medallion has a decoration very similar to that of our fountain. Weight: 1.992 kg.
