Virgin and Child (Portrait of Isabel Kuntz and Federico de Madrazo?), 1816. Oil on canvas. Painted in Rome in 1816-1817. Size: 48 x 38 cm. It has been assumed that it is a portrait of Isabel Kuntz, his wife, with her son Federico in her arms (born in 1815), because of its relative resemblance to other images of Isabel Kuntz as the "Allegory of the five senses" of private collection. Madrazo includes in his catalog of his paintings ("Lista de los retratos y cuadros de Historia que lleva executados Don Jose de Madrazo hasta el día de hoy, 9 diciembre de 1835") three identical paintings of a Virgin and Child, made in Rome in 1816 and 1817, one for Mr. Juan Abella (attached to the Legation of Rome), another identical one for Don Fernando de la Serna (his former protector in Paris) and finally, another identical one, in the author's possession.
