One of 460 numbered copies on wove paper à la forme (GA 525). - Genet's homoerotic novel about the windy sailor Querelle and his machinations in the French coastal town of Brest was initially published anonymously in 1947. The present edition with illustrations by Jean Cocteau followed in the same year. - Minimally browned in the margins. Inconspicuous initial crease to upper inner margin. Overall a well-preserved, wide-margined and untrimmed copy. With 29 full page lithographs after drawings by Jean Cocteau. Ill. orig. wrappers in orig. paper chemise with closing bands (the latter with traces of wear and cracked joints, these unprofessionally restored with tape on the inside). - One of 460 numbered copies on vélin à la forme (total ed. 525).
