Very fine, richly illustrated Lyonnais print. - Guilelmus Parisiensis (1180/90-1249), also known as William of Auvergne, Guillaume d'Auvergne, Guilielmus Alvernus or William of Paris, was a French theologian and philosopher, Bishop of Paris (1228-1249) and advisor to the young King Louis IX. He was one of the first Western European philosophers to deal extensively with the Aristotelian writings on metaphysics and natural philosophy as well as with Islamic philosophy and to comment on them. This book offers a richly illustrated guide to excerpts from the letters and the Evangelist. - Worming, somewhat browned, fingerstained, waterstained in places. With handwritten, loose title page. Notes in old hand on inner flyleaf and first leaf.
