Wittigau for Kirchner, 1657. 8 vols. (v. 12?), 183, 283, 84, 203 p., 23 vols. (up to here in Hebrew order from right to left), 292, 160, 70 pp. (sorted from left to right). Fol. Pigskin boards with stroked lines, scroll and plate stamps (scuffed, rubbed and bumped, stained, joint chipped, closing straps removed). Cf. VD17 3:006804G. - Bibles Paris 83-84 - Paisey (BL) B-972 - Not in Darlow/Moule. - Famous Saxon polyglot Bible, which was authorized by the Elector of Saxony for the Lutheran churches in 1657. Contains the Hebrew OT, set against the Latin text of Santes Pagninus (1470-1536), and the Greek NT, set against the Latin text of the Vulgate, both compiled and edited by B. Arias Montanus. - Some browning to paper, a few pages somewhat stained, the endpapers somewhat creased and soiled, with contemporary inscription. Contemporary ownership inscription. Overall well-preserved copy. Biblia graeco-latina / hebraica - With engraved title-page and 1 double-page copper engraving. Partly Hebrew sorting from right to left. Contemporary pigskin (scuffed, rubbed and bumped, soiled, joint chipped, closing bands removed). - Famous Saxon polyglot Bible authorised by the Elector of Saxony in 1657. Contains the Hebrew OT confronted with the Latin text of Santes Pagninus (1470-1536) and the Greek NT confronted with the Latin text of the Vulgate, both compiled and edited by B. Arias Montanus. - Paper browned, a few pages somewhat spotted, endpapers somewhat creased and soiled, with contemporary ownership inscription. Overall a well preserved copy.
