LC1 armchair, Cassina, from 1965 chromed steel tubular structure with tilting backrest; covered in black and white mottled leather; leather armrests. Signature on the chassis Le Corbusier LC/1 1631, cm. 61X59X68 (very slight signs of wear).
Designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928, the armchair was presented in 1929 at the Salon d'Automne together with other important models such as the Fauteuil Grand Confort, petit modèle and grand modèle armchairs,
the Table tube d'avion table and the Chaise longue à réglage continu.
Like other models in the collection, the Fauteuil dossier basculant armchair derives from an in-depth study on body posture and, in this specific case, offers itself as the perfect support for composed relaxation that prepares for conversation. Its perfect compositional simplicity, adaptable to different contexts, is also expressed
in the versions of 1928 for Villa Church and 1930 for the exhibition at the Union des Artistes Modernes.
