Icon of the Conception of Saint Anne. Russia, 17th century. Saint Anne and Saint Joachim are shown embracing in the town of Nazareth. In the two upper corners, they are shown receiving the news from an angel that their sterility has come to an end. Tempera on wood. Board cut with a kovcheg. 16.5 x 18.5 cm Substantial loss at the bottom, but no damage to the subject. The lower part of the board is broken, with a loss of at least the width of the upper edge.
