PAIR OF SMALL BALUSTER VASES in porcelain, polychrome enamels and gold highlights, standing on openwork feet, the sides decorated with animated scenes of women and children gathering faggots on one, and two children catching locusts for their master on the other, the necks adorned with shishi and fans in floral stem scrolls, the shoulders flanked by lions' heads in relief spitting rings. Signed Takayama on the bases. (Restoration to the foot of one). Japan, late Meiji period, early 20th century. A PAIR OF PORCELAIN VASES, SIGNED TAKAYAMA, JAPAN, LATE MEIJI PERIOD, EARLY 20TH CENTURY.
