Some free Ussel family mourning cards in the book. ½ blue basane, red title-pieces and gilt roulettes. BERALDI is full of praise for this highly unusual book: "This is the necessary, expected Book on the peaks and rare regions of Ariège... sympathetic and penetrating... (The) difficulty is told insistently and photographically... natural, sincere, and without any posing... He has a love of the Pyrenees, of his Eastern Pyrenees, and in the interstices of the stories of difficulty he has slipped many episodes of the detail of Pyrenean life as seen by a delicate and distinguished person, with a sense of poetry and color. All in all, an essential book. D'USSEL seems to have the makings of a very remarkable mountain writer". An original copy teeming with notes and information on the Pyrenean mountains and peaks.
