Jean Marie Hippolyte Aymar d'ARLOT de SAINT-SAUD (1853-1951) was a French Pyrenean scholar and cartographer, interested in history, geology and genealogy. He was also a talented photographer and watercolorist. In 1894, his 100,000th scale map of the Picos de Europa appeared in the CAF yearbook. He returned in 1906, 1907 and 1908 to complete his observations. In the meantime, he covered the Néouvielle, then the Caillaouas and Pouchergues basins, to rectify errors in the staff map (1905-1906). Finally, he continued his cartographic campaigns at La Pierre Saint-Martin and Pic del Acherito. At the age of seventy, Aymar de SAINT-SAUD put an end to his mountaineering activities, but continued to be intensely active in the various associations of which he was a member and often president and founder. He founded the South-West section of the Club Alpin Français, and was its president from 1923 to 1933. He was intensely involved in writing and editing Bulletins. He was particularly active in the Franco-Spanish Federation of Pyrenean Societies, founded in 1903 by Louis LE BONDIDIER.
