In-4; out-of-text frontispiece and vignettes at the beginning and end of chapters. Limited edition of 110 copies, here no. 40 for Gaston Gradis. This copy includes a plate with a mailing from the author, a poem with a short text of thanks from the author to Henri Prost and Georges Robert, the 1934 menu at the Hôtel de Crillon, a letter from Juliette DROUET to Victor Hugo (4 pages in-8), and a letter addressed to Victor Hugo, dispatched from Gramat (postmark 1857) to Guernsey (postmarks in English), concerning work carried out by Madame Drouet in the house on condition that everything would be restored to its original condition on her departure (probably in the handwriting of the owner of the dwelling), a second letter probably from Juliette Drouet (4 pages in-8), and an A4 sheet listing expenses and receipts for 1839.
Bottle-green morocco signed CREUZEVAULT, gilt title on spine, large cold medallion on upper board with central gilt title, green cloth endpapers, gilt edges, in ½ morocco folder with flaps and sheathed slipcase.
