An over-and-under turning flintlock rifle by I. H. Baeyer of Mehlis, circa 1760
The octagonal barrels both with seven-groove rifled bores in 14 mm caliber. Dovetailed brass and iron sights. The signature "I.H.Baeyer - à Melis" engraved at the breeches. Lavishly engraved tang. Two frizzens, distinctly domed lock plate and cock. The engraved brass trigger guard with a locking mechanism for the barrel group. The slightly carved full stock in walnut with engraved brass furniture and bone nose. The lid of the patch box with a spring catch. Ramrod with bone tip inset on the side. Length 97 cm.
