A Sjögren system semi-auto shotgun, Sweden/Denmark, ca. 1909
Cal. 12/65, SN. 5250, matching numbers. Bright bore with bead front sight, length 72 cm. Tube magazine. German proof mark. On left side of action marked "Automat / System Sjögren / Patent", on the right manufacturer "Haandvaabenvaerkstederne Kjobenhavn". Butt stock safety. Original finish spotted on barrel, wear and usage marks on bolt and trigger guard. Walnut stock. Both sling swivels. Stock length 35.5 cm. Length 123 cm. First self-loading shotgun. Developed by the Swede Carl Axel Sjögren at the beginning of the 20th century. Total production of this hardly known "Forgotten Weapon" in the period 1908-09 only approx. 5,000 pieces. Outstanding collector's item in good overall condition.
