An Old-Assyrian (or Urartian) pectoral, 8th - 7th century B.C.
Pectoral of bronze sheet. The wide lower part is pointed downwards and decorated with three four-stepped circular bosses. For attachment to a pad, a hole in the lower tip and two holes above it at the upper edge of the inner cutout. The sides drawn up in a band-like manner with lancet-shaped ends. Blue-green patina with minimal incrustations. Apart from minimal chipping at the rim and single restored creases intact and without missing parts. Length 36 cm.
Comparable pectorals also come from grave finds of the contemporaneous Koban culture in the Caucasus.
Rare item of Old-Assyrian (or Urartian) armour in excellent condition.
