A shield of the Congolese Kundu/Saka tribes, circa 1900
Wood, cane and plant fibres with geometric decoration in natural colors. Pointed oval shield with a frame of bent wood, two vertical reinforcing rods. Covering of split and braided cane. Carved hardwood handle bound on the back with an attached braided carrying cord. Small defects in places. Height 142 cm.
