Troika sledge with Napoleon after the failed Russian campaign of 1812
Bronze, dark brown patina and cold patina. Signed in Cyrillic; foundry mark "BL" in ligature by Bräunlich & Langlotz, Berlin. Fully sculpted, vividly depicted group of figures. Guradze studied at the Dresden Academy, 1890-1892 at the renowned teaching institute of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin. In 1892, he exhibited his statue of Kaiser Wilhelm II as the Prussian Ulan at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. By 1900, Guradze had established himself as a sculptor of small bronzes, often with equestrian motifs, which were produced by the Gladenbeck and Bräunlich & Langlotz foundries, among others. 16.5 cm x 40.5 cm x 13.5 cm.
