Bronze, dark patina. 19th century cast by Ferdinand Barbedienne, Paris, marked "F. BARBEDIENNE, FONDEUR". After the well-known ancient Roman marble sculpture of the 1st/2nd century AD discovered in 1792 (itself a copy of a Greek Hellenistic original of the 2nd century BC) in the Louvre in Paris. H. 27.5 cm.
French sculptor active 19th C.; Dark brown patinated bronze. Cast by Ferdinand Barbedienne, Paris (inscribed "F. BARBEDIENNE, FONDEUR"). After the antique Roman marble sculpture in the Louvre Museum in Paris.
