Late 19th century French 4/4 violin bearing the label of HIPPOLITE CHAROTTE pupil of Joseph Luthier in Rouen anno 1873, spruce top with fairly regular wide rings, two-piece maple back with fairly tight small waves very slightly descending on either side of the joint, ribs of the same wood with wider waves, orange-brown varnish with yellow under tone, 359 mm, slight varnish accidents, neck with headstock may have been changed, good condition, in a recent case.
