Willy Moralt (1884 Munich - 1947 ibid.)
After the prayer
A cheerful summer landscape in pastel tones and a relaxed style, in which a maidservant turns away from a Materl by the wayside after her prayer to continue on her way. Based on a work by Gustav Eichhorn (1857 - 1926), the present work was probably created during or directly after Moralt's time as a student at the Munich Academy, which the artist attended for two years from 1903. He had previously been taught by his father, a pupil of Spitzweg and Christian Morgenstern. Oil/wood panel. R. a. dat. 1905 as well as signed and with the location Munich ("Mchn.") on the verso. 15.6 cm x 30.5 cm. Frame.
Provenance: South German private collection.
Oil on wooden panel. Dated 1905. Signed and inscribed with location Munich on the reverse.
