Lodovico Cardi known as Cigoli (attributed to) (Cigoli 1559-Rome 1613) Holy Family with God the Father and the Holy Spirit oil on canvas 71x87 cm - with frame 83x96 cm The divine light, irradiated from the upper part of the painting where God the Father appears, sculpts and outlines the faces and bodies of the Holy Family, immersed in a shadowy interior, placed below him, and the beautiful basket below. The author of the canvas, Ludovico Cardi known as Cigoli, was a great master of the Tuscan manner, which he had learned from masters of the caliber of Alessandro Allori in the 17th century, also becoming a point of reference for Pietro da Cortona. The echoes of Baroque and Titian, painters he had studied in depth, are present in our canvas, in particular for the skilful use of colors, so nuanced but at the same time defined, and in the sweetness of the faces. Furthermore, this Holy Family already seems to allude to the most original solutions experimented by Carlo Dolci in Florence in the late seventeenth century
