Rare Art Déco ball vase with swan frieze by Pierre D'Avesn
Cased glass, colorless and with blue and violet powder meltings, blown into shape, cut and polished. Designed by Pierre d'Avesn. Signed "D' AVESN FRANCE". H. 20.2 cm.
Pierre d'Avesn, pseudonym of Pierre Girre (1901-1990), worked for Lalique (including as designer of the famous snake vase) before becoming artistic director of a glassworks in Croismare taken over by Paul Daum from 1927-1936 (according to other sources 1932).
