Small jewelry box Porcelain, matt Prussian blue overglaze background applied in stencil technique, accents in yellow and grisaille tones, matt and shiny polished gilding. Unidentified model, lidded box. A Cupid with a dog on the front, lily and snowball branches on the sides and back, the lid decorated with bobbin lace patterns. Blue sceptre mark, red orb mark. With lid H 7, W 8.8, D 6.4 cm. Berlin, KPM, around 1840 This elaborately painted small casket is one of the most precious porcelain objects produced by KPM in the period of royal gifts. The occasion is likely to have been a private one, a case whose painting provides information about its contents. Alternatively, it could be a large toilet set, possibly in gilded silver, to which this small box would have been a complement.
