Magnificently cut Silesian goblet
Discolored glass with cut, bright and matt cut. Plate base with radial olive blisters and frosted tendrils, faceted baluster stem and dome with accentuated base. Two allegorical depictions inscribed in Latin between scrollwork cartouches with feather leaves and small landscapes with hunting motifs. Two small rim chips. H 19.5 cm.
Schreiberhau (Szklarska Poręba), Preußler glassworks Weißbach, attributed to the 1720s.
The hands reaching out to each other from clouds are framed by the inscription "ContaXIt IVtner ConstantIs foeDVs aMorIs" (the capital letters could be added to the date 1723). The crown above the united hearts is inscribed "HoC foeDVs faVstVM nVnC praegenis approbatannVs" (adding the capital letters gives 1725).
